two men and two women\u003c\/strong\u003e. Their clothing is reminiscent of business portraits from corporate brochures or press photos of international companies. Each figure seems particularly vigilant – as if it had to observe, react and speak all at once.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"2318\" data-start=\"2070\"\u003eAlthough it is a group portrait, no real sense of community emerges. Instead, each person appears highly self-absorbed. The impression arises that there is a constant competition even within the group.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"2514\" data-start=\"2320\"\u003eThe expressive oil painting intensifies this impression: the faces appear intensely modelled, while the repetitions of eyes and mouths create a slightly surreal tension.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3 data-end=\"2542\" data-start=\"2521\" data-section-id=\"17jp93b\"\u003eThe “Hunters” series\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"2800\" data-start=\"2544\"\u003eMany of my portrait works from this period belong to the series \u003cstrong data-end=\"2621\" data-start=\"2608\"\u003e“Hunters”\u003c\/strong\u003e. In these paintings I deal with people who have to \u003cstrong data-end=\"2731\" data-start=\"2688\"\u003eprove themselves in competitive situations\u003c\/strong\u003e – in their profession, in social life or in their personal environment.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"2996\" data-start=\"2802\"\u003eThe portraits are mostly based on \u003cstrong data-end=\"2870\" data-start=\"2835\"\u003erandomly found photographs\u003c\/strong\u003e from media, brochures or advertising materials. It did not originate on a blank canvas, but on a work surface that absorbed paint during numerous creative phases. While I was working on various projects, the cotton underlays caught the drips and splashes. These seemingly random patterns and layers of color were reused after the completion of the paintings and stretched onto a stretcher frame. In this way, a new, independent artwork was born from the “remnants of an experiment”.
