“RE 33” is a quiet, condensed work from the series Remnants of an Experiment. Like an echo of earlier working phases, the canvas bears traces that were not planned but remained. The painting feels like a visual echo – a moment that has detached itself from the experiment and found its own form.

The making of RE 33: When remnants keep working

This painting emerged in the context of experimental working processes in which color was not the goal but the companion. During other projects, layers, abrasion and overlays accumulated on the surface. Instead of removing these traces, they were deliberately preserved.
In this way, the remnant became a painting – the incidental material became an independent work.

RE 33 – Small canvas, condensed energy

With its compact dimensions of 30 × 24 cm, “RE 33” directs the gaze to the essentials. Dark, earthy color spaces are traversed by luminous greens and ochres that emerge like memories from deeper layers. The surface appears almost sedimented – as if time had inscribed itself.
A painting that demands closeness and rewards concentration.

Between origin and resonance

“RE 33” moves between control and chance, between origin and echo. It is not a loud work, but one that reveals itself slowly. The experimental approach remains visible without being obtrusive.
It is precisely this restraint that gives the painting its tension and openness to individual interpretation.

A quiet object from the series “Remnants of an Experiment”

Within the series, “RE 33” stands for the quiet works – for those paintings that do not arise from the center of attention, but from the margins of events. Removed from the studio context, it now asserts its own space.
