A paint-box painting like a dive

“At the Reef” (100 × 110 × 4 cm, 2013) is a work that draws the viewer into the depths – like a look beneath the water’s surface. Luminous yellows, greens and oranges recall corals and tropical fish, while blue and turquoise areas evoke thoughts of the sea and movement.

The structure of the paint box, with its small round and rectangular compartments, looks like a mosaic of colors and shapes that is constantly recomposing itself. Thick layers of paint, cracks, overlaps, and traces of color create a tactile surface reminiscent of the vitality and complexity of a reef.
