Abstract animal motif between reality and color

“Rare Badger” (50 × 60 × 4 cm, 2024) is a work from the series “Out of the Light”. On a white-primed canvas, a composition unfolds that connects the animal motif with abstract color fields. Shades of green, brown nuances, and earthy contrasts allow the shape of a badger to emerge, while the surroundings remain open to interpretation.

The lightness arises from the brightness of the background and the seemingly random arrangement of the color fields, which nevertheless deliberately suggest the form of the animal. The work oscillates between depiction and abstraction – an invitation to look more closely and to keep readjusting your gaze.

Sold – and now in private ownership

This painting is now in a private collection. “Seltener Dachs” exemplifies Mark Hellbusch’s artistic idea of choosing animal motifs as a starting point and making them newly perceptible through the interplay of color fields, light and abstraction.
