Hunters – Group in competition
Faces between closeness and alienation
The work “Hunters” (100 × 190 cm, 2003) is one of the first large-format paintings in the series of the same name. It shows five figures side by side – each with intensely exaggerated eyes and mouths that function like symbols of perception, communication and assertiveness.
The figures seem to be looking straight at us, their gazes drilling outward, while their faces at the same time appear distorted and fragmented. This creates a tension-filled mixture of collective presence and individual isolation.
The expressive use of color – from warm reds to cool greens – intensifies the dynamism of the painting. “Hunters” is a programmatic work that condenses the core idea of the series: the exaggeration of individual sense organs as a symbol of restlessness and competitive pressure.
