“Koala” (2024) combines the concrete motif with an abstract visual language. Delicate shades of green and blue unfold on a light ground, interspersed with fine nuances of gray and brown. In this way, the form of the koala emerges in suggestion without ever being fully fixed – a play between recognition and dissolution.

The composition thrives on lightness, transparency, and seemingly random structures. The animal motif appears as a starting point, but is carried further in color and atmosphere – a contemporary painting that continually challenges the viewer’s gaze anew.

Sold – and now in private ownership

This work is now part of a private collection. “Koala” is exemplary of how Atelier Hellbusch combines animal motifs with abstract painting, thus building a bridge between representational imagery and free composition.
