The elegance of cheetahs

The painting "Redwind and Cheetahs" (2005) shows two cheetahs appearing in a reddish-brown landscape. Their bodies seem almost translucent, as if they were part of the earth and the background. This fusion of animal and nature reinforces the feeling of witnessing an ancient, archaic moment.

Color tone and mood

The painting lives from its warm tones – red, ocher and earthy brown – which appear particularly powerful thanks to the fossil technique. The textures and structures in the background lend the work depth and an almost three-dimensional presence. The cheetahs appear both majestic and mysterious.

Fossil technique – expression of time

By combining layers, glazes and sanding processes, a surface is created that appears weathered. This makes the painting reminiscent of rock drawings and primeval traces – fitting the theme of African wildlife.
