A square paint-box painting – warm, vibrant, abstracted

“Savannah” is a square paint-box object painting (80 × 80 × ~3 cm) whose composition creates an intense flow of color and a delicate balance between order and spontaneous design. In the mixing wells and paint pans, colors appear such as terracotta reds, warm yellows and oranges, interspersed with earthy browns and subtle pastels – they flow into one another, overlap, and evoke both landscapes and moods.

The structure of the oversized paint box, with its clearly defined color fields and at the same time visible brush layers and traces of paint, gives the work a material depth. Even if the painting is small compared to some other objects in the series, its impact is concentrated and powerful. It feels like a quiet moment in a color conversation in which every nuance counts.

Sold – and now in private ownership

“Savannah” is now among the works that have found their way home into private collections. It stands as an example of the series “Der Farbkasten” (“The Paint Box”), in which the experimental counts just as much as the reflective, and the balance between formal structure and expressive color improvisation.
