Black plays a special role in many of my works. The color can deepen pictorial spaces, intensify contrasts, or serve as a calm background for color-intensive structures.
In some paintings, the dark effect arises from a black ground on which further layers of color and movements develop. In other works, black itself forms a painterly trace within a more complex color structure.
This creates pictorial spaces in which black becomes visible both as a structuring element and as an independent color.
Black as depth and contrast
In abstract painting, black can create both calm and intensity. In many of my works, the dark color amplifies the effect of color layers, fragments, and gestural traces that develop over the course of the painting process.
Black pictorial spaces in my series
Black pictorial spaces or dark contrasts appear in various series of my work, for example in experimental pieces from Splash, in the fragmented structures of the RE series, or as a contrast in color-intensive works from the paint box.
