Earthy color worlds – abstract painting in earthy tones

Many of my works derive their impact from complex leftover paint and overlays of earlier painting processes. This creates pictorial spaces in which numerous hues merge and, from a distance, develop an earthy overall effect.
This colour world often does not arise from individual brown colour fields, but from many small colour fragments that intermingle in the course of the painting process. Seen up close, the paintings reveal a great variety of colours, while in the room they appear as calm, earthy picture landscapes.
This color effect becomes particularly visible in the series Field of Mars. Here, dense, multi-layered structures develop from leftover paint, in which different colors merge into a shared earthy atmosphere.
The following works show different manifestations of this color world within my painting.
Earthy colors as pictorial structure
In many of my works, the earthy effect arises from layers, fragments and traces of earlier painting processes. This creates picture surfaces that appear calm and complex at the same time.
