Green Paintings – Abstract Painting in Green

Green plays a special role in many of my works. Its effect often does not arise from a single area of color, but from layers, overlays, and paint residues that merge with one another over the course of the painting process. This creates a chromatic depth in which green determines the character of the pictorial space.
In some paintings this color emerges directly; in others it arises from underlying layers of paint that remain visible within the green. In this way, a color structure forms in which different tones blend together and unfold their own spatial effect.
This colour world becomes particularly evident in work groups such as In the End Green or in individual works from Organic Grounds. Here, pictorial spaces emerge in which green grows out of several layers of colour and its full effect only becomes visible in the interplay of the colours.
Green pictorial spaces can appear calm and focused, yet at the same time lively and mobile. The following works show different forms of this color world within my painting.
Green as chromatic depth
In many of my paintings, green develops from multiple layers of color. Beneath the visible hue, other colors remain present and lend the work a special depth and vibrancy.
