Paintings in medium format combine presence with versatility. They are large enough to make color, structure, and movement visibly effective, yet remain flexible enough to find their place in different spaces.

Many works from my series are created within this size range. Here, layers of color, material traces and painterly processes can unfold without completely dominating the space. This results in pieces that work both as individual paintings and as part of a larger group of works.

The following works show medium-sized abstract paintings from various series created in my studio. 

For orientation: The works in this category fall within a size range of 200 to 399 centimetres. This format range offers a special balance: the paintings are large enough to make colour, structure and painterly processes clearly visible without completely dominating the space. Especially at this scale, abstract painting often unfolds a very pleasant presence – striking enough to attract the eye, yet open enough to integrate harmoniously into different rooms.

The medium format as a balance

Medium-sized formats create a special balance between concentration and spatial impact. Color, structure, and composition can fully unfold, while the painting at the same time maintains a pleasant sense of scale within the space.

Especially in abstract painting, very balanced compositions often emerge in this format.

Medium-sized paintings can be found in various series of my work, for example in the color-intensive compositions of the Farbkasten, in experimental works from Splash and Organic Grounds, or in richly structured paintings from Field of Mars.
