In some of my works, the pictorial effect arises from the reduction of color. Large areas of the canvas are deliberately left white and form an open pictorial space in which individual color accents become visible.
Here, colour does not appear as a closed surface, but as a trace, fragment or movement. This creates a particular lightness: colour emerges from the white space without completely covering it.
This approach becomes particularly visible in the series Out of the Light. A few movements of color evolve on the white canvas and create open, bright pictorial spaces in which painting and space enter into a relationship with one another.
White pictorial spaces in abstract painting
In these works, white areas are not just background, but an active part of the composition. They let color breathe, create space, and intensify the effect of individual painterly gestures.
