Yellow paintings – abstract art in yellow

Yellow is one of the colours that has a particularly strong effect on space in painting. In my works, this colour effect arises in different ways. Sometimes a yellow ground forms the starting point of a painting, on which further layers of colour develop. In other works, the yellow effect only emerges in the course of the painting process – from overlays, fragments or spontaneous movements of colour.
Yellow pictorial spaces can create very different atmospheres. They can appear warm and flooded with light, but can also develop an intense, almost energetic presence. This makes yellow a color that can carry both lightness and tension in abstract painting.
This color effect becomes particularly visible in works from series such as Der Farbkasten or in individual experimental pieces. Here, yellow often arises from the interplay of many layers of color and from spontaneous traces of paint.
Yellow as the Color of Light and Energy
In abstract painting, yellow can create both brightness and movement. In many of my works, this effect arises from the interplay of grounds, layers of colour and experimental colour processes.
