“Discussion Round” – The paint box as a space of communication

The work “Discussion Round” translates the paint box into a large-format, object-like painting. As a familiar tool of painting, it becomes a stage for color, structure, and mental associations. The title opens up an additional level: colors and forms enter into relation with one another, acting like voices within an open, visual communication.

Construction and materiality

The work is based on a combination of wood, canvas, and additional structure-forming materials. The individual elements were built up, worked, and connected in layers. This creates a relief-like surface with tangible depth. Acrylic and oil paints as well as binding agents give the work a dense, multi-layered materiality.

Color and spatial effect

In the interplay of clear color fields and free, experimental traces, fields of tension develop between order and dissolution. Familiar hues from the classic paint box sit alongside individual mixtures and overlays. The physical depth creates real shadows that intensify the color effect and extend the work into the space.

Open visual language

“Discussion Round” is conceived as an invitation to individual interpretation. The combination of experimental painting, object-like structure and the idea suggested by the title creates an open space for thought in which personal associations and perceptions can unfold.

Presentation

The work can be freely oriented and is not bound to a fixed hanging direction. For optimal effect, it is best presented with sufficient distance from its surroundings so that the interplay of color, form, and space can fully unfold.
