The experimental landscape painting "Marsfeld CLIV" measures 70 x 50 cm and consists of paint remnants. Binder is used as the adhesive. The paint remnants used for this painting are colorful. Acrylic paints, oil paints, and varnish residues interact with one another in the most diverse variations of color, shape, and size. The sizes of the paint remnants range from very fine dust to paint chunks with a diameter of approx. 0.7 cm. It is the differences in size of the paint remnants that allow for a composition. From a distance, the work initially appears to depict an earthy or sandy, beach-like surface. As you take a few steps toward the painting, you realize that the work is completely colorful and made up of small paint remnants. The experimental painting becomes more concrete with prolonged viewing: in your mind, wind, water and eventually the morphology of a section of beach emerge.
"Marsfeld CLIV" makes the strongest impression in a bright room. The unusual spatiality – the haptics (three-dimensional) combined with the contrasts (two-dimensional) – creates a special ambience that can only be gradually explored. The spatial effect is extremely subtle, so this painting emanates a very delicate, elegant, and stimulating presence in the living space.
The “Field of Mars” paintings appear very elegant in vertical or horizontal rows. In this way, larger spaces can also be decorated with Field of Mars works. For pictures hanging side by side, it is important to note that difference is crucial. A crater that appears yellow-brown from a distance, between beach-like reddish wave structures and a whirlpool that appears grayish, is more inspiring to the eye than several craters of the same size next to each other. These can quickly be overlooked as a mere pattern.
