Field of Mars CXXXX is a unique piece from the Field of Mars series that achieves great impact on a small canvas. Instead of classic painting with brush and paint, the paint itself became the material here: paint remnants, collected and layered, form the basis of this work. The result is a surprisingly dense yet finely balanced composition that fascinates both from a distance and in detail.

Structure, diversity and tactility

The 40 × 30 cm canvas is completely covered with the tiniest paint fragments of the most varied shapes and colors. The surface structure is not flat, but slightly relief-like – almost sculptural. Colored flakes and dust particles create depth, movement and a visual shimmer that constantly reveals new aspects as the light changes.
