When excess becomes meaning.
Between chance and magic
RE 20 (50 × 50 cm, 2025) is no ordinary artwork – it is a magical remnant. Created from the back of a canvas that originally served only to catch dripping paint, it unfolds into a composition full of depth, dynamism, and radiant energy.
The remnants as origin
When throwing and letting the paint flow, excess material fell into an underlying “catch basin.” A section of this was selected, turned, accentuated, and staged on a bright orange background. The remnants of an experiment become the source of new expressive power – the quiet magic of the unexpected.
Structure, colour, framing
On the rotated canvas, wild streaks of turquoise, cobalt blue, black, violet, green, and orange run. The work is framed by a white wooden frame. A fascinating play between inside and outside, front and back.
