Between calm and storm

“Steven” is a work that appears calm at first glance: green areas in light and dark shades, softly layered into one another. But this calm is deceptive – because there is dynamism hidden in the layers. Dark green forms are reminiscent of clouds whose shadows are cast by an approaching low-pressure system. The canvas becomes a stage for forces of nature: powerful, in motion, almost threatening and at the same time modern and elegant.

Abstraction becomes concrete

Like all paintings in the “In the End Green” series, this one also bears a first name. In this way, the abstract is linked to something very concrete – because “Steven” could just as well be the name of the next low-pressure system. Nature and humanity merge here in the language of painting.

Effect through light

For the fine structures and the depth of the paint layers to fully unfold, “Steven” needs good lighting. A bright wall or a focused spotlight makes the surface glow and reveals the subtle nuances that make contemporary painting appear so refined.

Painting with organic structures

The priming was created from thick layers of acrylic paint into which leaves and twigs were worked. This organic texture remains tangible even after sanding, sealing, and overpainting. With fine layers of green, ocher, brown, yellow, and blue, a complex web emerges that recalls the diversity of nature – and at the same time is a mirror of the human being.
