Hunters - expressive portrait painting / 170x80 cm

Price

Expressive, mostly large-format portrait painting on the theme of competition.

"Look everywhere, miss nothing. Restlessness distorts people. I paint how the constant "sharing" drowns out our sensitivity."

The first images on the theme "Hunters"—in German, "Jäger"—were created in 2002 in Berlin and show expressive portraits of people "in the market." These individuals prioritize their own assertion, which is reinforced by the expressive depiction of certain sensory organs.

The expressive sense organs invite symbolic contemplation.

The eyes, for instance, as a symbol for purposeful action or "focusing on something," are depicted multiple times. The mouth, too - a well-known symbol for communication - can be interpreted as a "sales organ" due to its repeated appearance. The other sense organs of the portrayed are often depicted either simply, less spatially, or transparently. This diversity in representation suggests a shift in the perception of these portrayed individuals. The concentrated perception through eyes and mouth leads to a one-sided unleashing of competition and keeps us from collective action.
