An experiment on canvas.

The experimental landscape painting "Field of Mars LXXIII" measures 30 x 24 cm and consists of paint remnants glued onto canvas with binder. The paint remnants used for this painting are colourful. Acrylic paints, oil paints and leftover lacquer interact on the canvas in a wide variety of colours, forms and sizes. The sizes of the paint remnants range from very fine dust to paint chunks with a diameter of approx. 0.6 cm. It is the differences in size of the paint remnants that allow for a composition.

A warm, small-format one-of-a-kind piece made from paint residues.

“Marsfeld LXXIII” is a small-format painting and works best in a hallway, on a stairway wall or in a niche. From a distance, the work initially appears to depict a warm, earthy or sandy, beach-like surface. As you take a few steps toward the painting, you realize that the work is completely colorful and made up of small paint remnants. The small-format one-of-a-kind piece becomes more concrete the longer you look at it: in your mind, wind, water and eventually the morphology of a beach emerge.

Paintings from the "Marsfeld" series for a truly special ambience.

"Field of Mars LXXIII" makes the greatest impression in a bright room. The unusual spatiality – the haptics (three-dimensional) combined with the contrasts (two-dimensional) – creates a special ambience that can only be fully explored over time. The spatial effect is extremely subtle, so that a very fine, elegant, and stimulating aura emanates from this painting.

Pictures arranged in vertical or horizontal rows can also optimally “fill” larger wall areas.

“Mars” and “Feld”

This type of experimental art is not accessible to everyone. Nevertheless, the painting can spark curiosity. The juxtaposition of old (paint residues) and new (painting) and the title "Marsfeld" – incidentally a site of political confrontation in ancient Rome – gives rise to associations around the terms “Mars” (planet, destruction, god of war) and “field” (construction, order).

The price is also interesting: the abstract landscapes are not cheap, but extremely affordable in relation to their quality. For some, buying one offers a relatively low-risk entry into the world of art. For others, it may be the opportunity to design smaller rooms in a modern, interesting, and inexpensive way. With such a one-of-a-kind piece, you make a quiet exclamation mark. The paint remnants alone, as the defining element of the image, give your interior something truly original.
