The Crater – an experiment on canvas.

The experimental landscape painting of a crater, “Field of Mars LXXXIV”, measures 70 × 50 cm and consists of paint residues glued onto canvas with binder. The paint residues used for this painting are colorful. Acrylic paints, oil paints, and leftover varnish interact in the most diverse variations of color, shape, and size. The sizes of the paint residues range from very fine dust to paint chunks of about 0.5 cm in diameter. It is the differences in size of the paint residues that make a composition possible. Below are some key data on the painting.

Contemporary art from leftover paint.

From a distance, the work initially appears to depict an earthy or sandy, beach-like surface. As you take a few steps toward the painting, you realize that the work is completely colorful and made up of small paint remnants. The abstract painting becomes more concrete the longer you look at it: in your mind, wind and water emerge, and eventually the morphology of an eroded crater appears.

Buy a painting from the “Field of Mars” series – for a truly special atmosphere.

“Field of Mars LXXXIV” makes the greatest impact in a bright room. The unusual spatiality – the haptics (three-dimensional) combined with the contrasts (two-dimensional) – creates a special ambience that can only be explored gradually. The spatial effect is extremely subtle, so that a very fine, elegant, and stimulating atmosphere emanates from this painting. The painting measures 70 × 50 cm and you can buy it and have it delivered directly by scrolling further down.

The Field of Mars series can also be displayed in horizontal or vertical rows.
