Marsfeld CXXXI – Circle in fine color texture

A radiant crater in a square

With Field of Mars CXXXI, a fascinating contrast between stillness and movement emerges in a small space. At the center of the 30 × 30 cm composition lies a clearly defined “crater” – an empty, almost meditative circle, surrounded by a kaleidoscope of the finest color pigments. The work consists of recycled leftover paint that has been processed into pigmented granules and fused with sand into a vibrating, organic surface.

Color as story

The pigments used come from earlier works – they are therefore not only material, but also memory. In this work, past and present unite: a piece created from remnants that, through its concentrated composition, creates a place for pause and reflection.

Texture and form in balance

Every splinter of paint, every layer contributes to the sensual depth. The circular arrangement in particular reflects an almost planetary order – as if one were looking down on an abstract landscape from above.
