The small painting shows an abstract animal motif: the bird made of color fields.

"Rare Bird" from the series "From the Light" shows colorful color fields, strokes, drips, and imprints that form an animal motif. The color fields create an abstract composition that at the same time suggests a bird. The lightness of the painting arises above all from the reduced brushwork.

The lightness of the painting leads to the magical.

The lightness of the painting arises from the brightness of the white-primed canvas in combination with the earthy, gracefully applied areas of color. Together they form a stimulating, seemingly random composition. The grace of these color fields is crucial for the calm yet lively perception of the composition, as it allows the viewer’s perspective to shift even after prolonged looking. Parts of the color fields define the shape of the bird, while the colors – in part – convey spatial depth. The magic emerges between the concrete outline of the bird and the abstract composition of the color fields.

The viewing of the abstract painting and the concrete motif creates an interplay of perception.

Although the painting is experimental, it is nevertheless “slowed down” at certain boundaries. The outline of the bird acts as a kind of barrier when mixing the colors. This ensures that the motif remains perceptible. The choice of colors is also not entirely random: the animal motif is shown in the colors of itself and its surroundings. In this way, spontaneous compositions of form and color emerge within the framework of a concept. Since the motif is constructed only across part of the boundaries of the color blends, the eye repeatedly shifts back to the abstract overall composition.

Interesting facts about the contemporary painting in "Seltener Vogel" (“Rare Bird”).

Despite the many colors, the modern animal motif has a rather subtle effect and can be appreciated both from a distance and up close.

The painting is signed, and the edges are painted white. The artwork can therefore be displayed immediately – with two nails in the wall. If you would prefer to have a frame made for the painting, I recommend visiting a specialist shop near you or ordering a frame online (30 x 24 cm is a standard size, so the range of frames will be very large).

The presentation of the artwork is authentic but not perfect.

The photos you see above were taken by me myself – as well as I can. Since I’m not a professional photographer, the colours you see may differ slightly from the original. The lighting or resolution could certainly be better here and there. I do my best to provide an authentic image of the artworks.

The photos showing the painting in the room were created using the "Smartist" app. This app can frame paintings and allows for a neat, stylish presentation in different rooms. The size ratio of the painting to the room is accurately depicted. The painting is sold without a frame..

Feel free to visit me at the studio or at ARTLET if you'd like to take a look at the original.
