The ease of painting leads to the magical.

The lightness of the painting arises from the brightness of the white-primed canvas in combination with the earthy, gracefully applied color fields. Together they create a stimulating, seemingly random composition. The grace of the color fields is crucial for the calm yet lively perception of the composition, as it allows the viewer to shift their view even after looking for a long time. Parts of the color fields define the shape of the squirrel, while the colors – in part – convey spatial depth. The magic emerges between the concrete outline of the squirrel and the abstract composition of the color fields.

The contemplation of abstract painting and the concrete subject creates an interplay of perception.

Although the painting is experimental, it is still “reined in” at certain boundaries. The outline of the squirrel acts as a kind of barrier when mixing the colors. This ensures that the motif remains perceptible. The choice of colors is not entirely random either: the animal motif is shown in the colors of itself and its surroundings. In this way, spontaneous compositions of form and color emerge within the framework of a concept. Since the motif is constructed only across part of the boundaries of the color blends, the eye repeatedly shifts back to the abstract overall composition.

Interesting facts about the modern painting in “Rare Squirrel II.”

Despite the many colors, the modern animal motif “Seltenes Eichhörnchen II” is rather subtle in its effect and can be enjoyed both from a distance and up close.

The glazes in painting create a high color depth.

If you would prefer to have a frame made for the painting, I recommend visiting a specialist shop near you or ordering a frame online (40 × 30 cm is a standard size, so the range of frames will be very large).

The presentation of the artwork is authentic, but not perfect.

The photos you see above were taken by me personally – as well as I can. Since I’m not a professional photographer, the colors you see may differ slightly from the original. The lighting and resolution could certainly be better here and there as well. I do my best to provide an authentic image of the artworks.
