The “Cooling” paint box becomes modern art. A source of inspiration for thoughts ranging from concrete to abstract.
The leaps of thought that the paint box as a symbol evokes lead many viewers back toward childhood. The title “Cooling” is an invitation to steer one’s own associations in a different direction without losing the personal touch. Over time, these impulses can change and develop a great variety: in addition to the title, the tensions in form and color, as well as the symbolic power of the color box . This turns the paint box into a source of unique individual inspiration.
Contemporary painting on the painting object.
With my experimental painting on the oversized paint box, a modern wall sculpture is created. The juxtaposition of graceful color fields creates tensions in form and color.. On one side the warm colors yellow, orange, red and brown as well as white, and the cool colors green, blue, violet and black. These colors, in slightly varied form, can be seen on almost every paint box. On the other side the “used” paint-box pans, the colorful gaps and the colored border area: here green, blue, violet, sand color and orange appear again. The spatial effect of the colors (painting) is further enhanced by the shadows cast by the wall object.
Canvases as a basis for building the paint box.
The paint box was built from wooden slats, plant saucers, 2 canvases, and cardboard. The painting object "Cooling" measures 65 x 72 cm and was created in 2021 in Wiesbaden. I first glued and screwed together the cardboard, the canvas and the different types of stretcher bars. The color compartments were built with mounting foam and cardboard. The canvases are connected with hinges. The paint box is stable and even foldable, i.e. it can, if necessary, be displayed around a corner. Acrylic and oil paints, glue and binder were used to paint and work the piece.
