Fragmentation and movement
The painting (1989) shows a face with a cubist feel that seems to be constantly turning from left to right. Sharp-edged color fields in red, brown and blue break up the form and create a vibrating, almost noisy presence.

The faceted manner of painting creates a rhythmic flicker, as if language itself were becoming visible. The polyphony of the “chattering human” appears in the overlapping forms that simultaneously open up and condense.
