Contemporary painting with green colors on canvas
“Achim” (30 × 24 cm, 2026) is a work from the series “In the End Green”. The piece presents a multi-layered, richly textured surface carried entirely by green tones.
The painting draws its strength from its physical presence: thick layers of paint, sanding processes, and organic inclusions create a relief-like structure reminiscent of natural processes – like cracked earth, compressed vegetation, or traces of growth and decay.
Abstract painting between surface and depth
The composition arises less from classical forms and more from a complex interplay of light, almost luminous greens, muted moss-like areas and darker zones that act like shadows.
These shadow forms subtly traverse the canvas and are reminiscent of the movement of a weather front or the dynamics of a tornado. This creates a calm yet powerful tension within the painting.
Structure and materiality – green colours as body
The surface of the painting has a strong tactile quality. Fissure-like lines, concentrations and breaks run across the canvas, giving the work an almost topographical effect.
Natural elements such as leaves or twigs were integrated into the creation process and leave traces that remain permanently visible in the painting. This creates a direct connection between painting and nature.
Human and nature in dialogue – the title “Achim”
As with all works in the series, this painting also bears a first name as its title. “Achim” stands in contrast to the raw, organic structure of the image.
The combination is reminiscent of how weather phenomena are named and creates a bridge between something personal and something elemental.
Effect in the space – light is decisive
“Achim” unfolds its effect particularly well under good lighting conditions. The fine structures and layers only become visible when light glides across the surface.
Ideally, it is presented with directed lighting, in calm modern spaces or as part of a minimalist hanging arrangement.
