Buffalo and Woods – mysterious animal painting in red and brown
This expressive painting shows a powerful buffalo in the midst of a dark forest. The background is suffused with deep reds and browns that create an archaic, almost mystical atmosphere. The contrast between the bright silhouette of the animal and the dark tree trunks intensifies the tension between light and shadow.
Fossil technique with archaic impact
The work belongs to the series Redwind, created in the early 2000s. With glazes, sanding, and tactile grounds, a surface develops that recalls fossil traces or ancient cave paintings. The combination of earthy reds and the striking animal motif underscores the wild, untamed character of the buffalo.
Symbolism and Expressive Power
The buffalo has always stood for strength, endurance and a deep connection with nature. Embedded in the forest, it seems on the one hand protected, and on the other part of an archaic narrative. The painting invites the viewer to reflect on the relationship between animal, nature and human beings.
