A source of inspiration: "City Stroll" – an abstract painting from the series "The Paint Box".
The mental leaps triggered by the paint box as a symbol lead many viewers back to childhood. The title "Stadtbummel" (“Stroll through the City”) is an invitation to steer your own associations in a different direction without losing your personal touch. Over time, these impulses can shift and develop into a great variety. In this way, the paint box becomes a source of entirely individual inspiration.
The canvas as the basis for the paint box.
The paint box was constructed from cotton, stretcher bars, small picture frames and various types of mouldings. The mouldings were glued to the canvas and fastened from the back with staples and screws. To create the most authentic surface possible, the paint containers are filled with Primed with adhesive concrete and thick layers of acrylic paint was. Afterwards, the primer was “sealed” with glue.
Acrylic and oil paints, adhesive concrete and glue were used to work and paint the artwork.
Modern painting on the wall object.
With my experimental painting on the oversized paint box, a modern wall sculpture is created. Through the juxtaposition of graceful color areas, some of them very contrasting, there arise Tension fields in form and color. On one side are colourful paints that can be seen, in slightly varied form, in almost every paint box: white, yellow, orange, red, green, brown, violet and black. On the other side are the “used” paint-box pans and the coloured edge area: here, white appears, along with the warm colours yellow and orange and the cooler colours violet and blue. The spatial effect of the contrasting colours is further enhanced by the shadows cast by the wall object.
The paint box – a beautiful abstract painting
Through the juxtaposition of graceful areas of color, abstract tension fields in form and color emerge. Through experimental painting on the oversized paint box, a beautiful picture is created as a wall sculpture. The result of the experimental painting, the symbolic power of the paint box and the guidance of a title ("City Stroll") invite you to associate freely. Once the imagination is set in motion, it can be stimulated in many different ways in the viewer.

There is no “top” or “bottom”; the picture can be displayed in any orientation. For this reason, the painting has been signed on the back. You will achieve optimal presentation if there is enough space around the painting. The width of the wall surface should be at least 2 and at most 5 metres.

The artist Mark Hellbusch – from expressive painting to modern, experimental art.
I have been a freelance artist since 1997 and have engaged with a variety of themes in painting. While until 2007 I was almost exclusively involved with expressive painting, my focus today is more on modern, experimental art.
