A Source of Inspiration: "Crete" - an abstract painting from the series "The Paint Box."

The leaps of thought that the paint box as a symbol generates often lead viewers back to childhood. The title "Crete" invites you to direct your associations in a different direction without losing the personal touch. These suggestions can change over time and develop great diversity: besides the title, the fields of tension in shape and color, as well as the symbolic powe rof the paint box. This makes the paint box a source of very individual inspiration.

Modern Painting on the Wall Object

With my experimental painting on the oversized paint box, a modern wall sculpture is created. The juxtaposition of graceful color fields creates fields of tension in shape and color. On one side, the warm colors yellow, orange, red, and brown, as well as white, and the cool colors green, blue, violet, and black. These colors can be seen in slightly altered forms on almost every paint box. On the other side, the "used" paint box compartments, the colorful interspaces, and the colorful edge area: here, white, blue, olive green, sand, and skin color appear again. The spatial effect of the colors (painting) is further enhanced by the shadows created by the wall object.

The Canvas as the Basis for the Paint Box

The paint box was constructed from cotton, plant coasters, and various types of strips. The strips were partially glued to the canvas and attached with screws in other places. The small round paint compartments are plant coasters. They were framed with wooden strips of equal height. The resulting interspaces were filled with mounting foam and sealed with cardboard before being glued to the canvas. To create a surface as realistic as possible, the paint containers and paint box compartments were primed with adhesive concrete and thick layers of acrylic paint. The primer was then "sealed" with glue.

Acrylic and oil paints were used for painting the artwork.

Information on Presenting the Painting "Crete."

There is no "up" or "down"; the picture can be displayed in any orientation. That's why "Kreta" is signed on the back. The glossy varnish protects the painting from color changes. If there is a lot of light opposite the "Kreta"—for example, from a window—the glossy varnish can be replaced with a matte varnish by me. For optimal presentation, leave some space around the painting, but not too much. The width of the wall space should be at least 1 meter and at most 2 meters, including the painting.
