Centered – and yet in motion
Marsfeld CXXXXI plays with the viewer’s eye. At the center of the 30 × 40 cm painting, a clearly defined circle opens up – not empty, but calmed – surrounded by a vibrating stream of colored particles. The tension between concentration and eruption makes this work a real eye-catcher. It evokes associations with energy fields, cosmic formations, or even biological structures under the microscope.
Color as material – no brush, no coincidence
As with all works in the Field of Mars series, no traditional paints were applied; instead, real paint residues were used. Tiny splinters, dust, flakes – each particle tells of a different painting, a different story. Here these fragments come together to form a completely new work. The center remains almost calm, making the surrounding space appear all the more dynamic.
Versatile presentation for modern spaces
Whether on a plain wall, as an accent in a designer room, or as part of a Field of Mars series: Field of Mars CXXXXI brings both energy and calm into your surroundings. The focus on the center enhances the spatial effect – it is particularly strong in hallways, on small gallery walls, or above sideboards. Thanks to its clear format, it also combines very well with other works.
Contemporary art from unconventional means
Mark Hellbusch’s experimental working method is a play with material, order, and association. Field of Mars CXXXXI is an outstanding example of how minimal formal interventions can unfold enormous impact. The combination of structure, movement, and color intensity makes this work a distinctive representative of experimental contemporary painting.
