The Landscape as an Experiment.
"Field of Mars LI" measures 30 x 24 cm, is made from leftover paint and emerged from an experiment. The paint remnants used for this painting are colorful. Acrylics, oil paints and lacquer residues interact with one another in endlessly varied combinations of color, shape and size. The sizes of the paint remnants range from very fine dust to chunks of paint with a diameter of about 0.2 cm. It is the differences in size between the paint remnants that make a composition possible – in this case, a landscape with a subtle crater seen from a bird’s-eye view.
An abstract painting made from leftover paint.
From a distance, the work initially appears to depict an earthy or sandy, beach-like surface. As you take a few steps toward the painting, you realize that the painting is colorful and made up of small paint remnants. The abstract painting becomes more concrete with prolonged viewing: in your mind, wind, water and eventually the morphology of a crater in the landscape emerge.
The small-format landscape for an inspiring atmosphere at home.
"Marsfeld LI" is a small painting. It works best in a small room, hallway, on a staircase, or in a niche. The unusual spatiality – the genuine haptics (three-dimensional) combined with the contrasts (two-dimensional) – together with the simple composition creates a very original and interesting ambience that can only be gradually explored. The spatial and compositional effect is extremely subtle, so that a very delicate, elegant, and stimulating aura emanates from this painting.

The "Field of Mars" works look very elegant in vertical or horizontal rows. In this way, even larger spaces can be decorated with the small-format Marsfeld pieces. For pictures hanging side by side, it is important to note that difference is crucial. A crater that appears yellow-brown from a distance, between beach-like reddish wave structures and a whirlpool that appears grayish, is more inspiring to the eye than several craters of the same size next to each other.

These can easily be overlooked as mere patterns. Also interesting is the price: The paintings on the theme "Marsfeld" are not cheap, but in relation to their quality, they are extremely affordable. For some, this means a relatively low-risk entry into the world of contemporary art. For others, perhaps the opportunity to decorate smaller rooms in a modern, interesting, and affordable way. With this kind of art, you make a subtle exclamation mark. The paint residues alone, as the defining element of the image, give your interior something very original. Good to know.
The special adhesive for cotton and the binder used for these experiments ensure that the paint remnants adhere very firmly to the canvas. If individual paint remnants should still come off – for example during transport or thanks to curious children's fingers – it’s not a big problem: all “Field of Mars” paintings consist of several layers of glued paint remnants, so the canvas remains covered even in the case of minor damage.
I always strive to present an authentic picture of my work on the website. The photos of the paintings are taken in the studio or next door in the living room. THowever, the colors you see on your monitor may slightly differ from the actual colors on the painting. The images presenting the painting in the room were generated using the 'Smartist' app. This app displays paintings in the exact correct proportions to the room and can also make artworks appear framed in any way you like.
