Abstract painting between surface and structure

“Harry” (46 × 48 cm, 2026) is a work from the series “In the End Green” that moves within a balanced tension between calm surface and lively structure. The green layers of paint appear to blend softly into one another and at the same time are traversed by numerous traces that only gradually reveal themselves.

The painting radiates a quiet presence. It does not impose itself, but unfolds its effect slowly – through looking, lingering, and discovering.

A web of traces and transitions

Fine, organic structures are distributed across the entire surface, lying in the paint like fragments. Some resemble imprints, others slight elevations or compressions that emerged from the painting process.

Nothing is clearly defined. The transitions remain soft, almost fluid. This is precisely what creates a continuous pictorial surface that is not made up of individual elements, but works as a whole.

Green in many nuances

The green appears multi-layered without moving into strong contrasts. Light, slightly yellowish areas open up the surface, while deeper, richer greens provide grounding.

In the upper right area, the color appears somewhat denser and more closed, while other areas seem airier. This balance between concentration and openness lends the painting a calm dynamism.

The title “Harry” – something familiar within the abstract

The name “Harry” brings an immediate, human dimension into the abstract painting. It stands in contrast to the open, natural structure of the image and at the same time makes it more accessible.

As in the entire series, this creates a connection between a personal name and an image world that is oriented more toward natural processes than toward concrete motifs.

Effect in Space

“Harry” reveals its qualities especially in well-lit rooms. The fine structures respond sensitively to light and change their effect depending on the viewing angle.

The painting is suitable both for modern, minimalist interiors and for spaces that call for a calm, natural visual language. It has an especially intense effect up close, without losing its presence from a distance.
