Colors in motion
“Marktplatz” feels like a place full of encounters. Strong yellows, reds, blues, greens and violets meet, overlap and create a vibrant mesh of colours, contrasts and structures.
The round format reinforces this impression. The eye finds no fixed beginning and no end, but moves freely through the composition. This creates a dynamic yet open pictorial effect.
Colorful and explosive painting on round canvas
The work was created on an oversized palette and belongs to the series “The Palette”. As with many works in this series, the composition developed without a predetermined motif.
Colors were added, altered, reworked, and related to one another. Layer by layer, a color-intense abstract painting emerged, full of energy, movement, and surprising transitions.
The visible traces of the painting process give the work a special vibrancy and spatial presence.
A place full of encounters
The title “Marketplace” only emerged after the work was completed. While viewing it, the impression arose of a place where many things happen at once. Colors meet, assert themselves, recede and re-emerge.
As on a lively square, new relationships and lines of sight are constantly emerging. The work remains open to personal discoveries and individual associations.
