Abstract painting between lightness and structure
“Melanie” (50 × 70 cm, 2026) is a work from the series “In the End Green” that is distinguished by a particular openness within the picture plane. Here, the green layers of paint appear less condensed and more in motion – as if they were spreading out, overlapping, and then receding again.
Despite this lightness, the surface remains tangible. The painting has a fine, material depth that only fully reveals itself over longer viewing and lends the work a quiet, high-quality presence.
Between expansion and inner equilibrium
At the center, a gentle concentration emerges that does not appear as a fixed point, but rather as a zone in which forces gather. From there, the layers of color develop further upward and downward without clear boundaries.
This movement quietly recalls natural pressure conditions – areas in which something builds up and at the same time disperses again. It is not a dramatic dynamic, but a fine balance of tension and release.
Organic traces as visible memory
The surface shows numerous plant-like structures. Imprints, lines and fragmentary forms are embedded in the layers of paint, giving the image a lively, almost grown quality.
These elements do not appear superimposed, but emerge from the process itself. They appear, disappear again and merge with the surface into a dense yet airy structure.
Green as space and atmosphere
The greens range from lighter, almost yellowish areas to deeper, richer zones. This creates a spatial effect that is generated not by perspective but by color depth.
This makes the painting appear both calm and complex. It does not draw the eye to a single point, but lets it wander across the entire surface – a key aspect of its elegant effect.
The title “Melanie”
The name “Melanie” introduces a soft, personal note into the abstract painting. It stands in contrast to an image that is oriented more towards natural processes than towards fixed forms.
This connection creates a balance between intimacy and openness and enhances the accessibility of the work.
Effect in Space
“Melanie” unfolds its effect especially in bright rooms where light can glide across the surface. The fine structures and transitions then become more pronounced and intensify the sense of depth.
Thanks to its format, the painting is suitable both as a central piece and in combination with other works from the series.
