"Rare Marmot" from the picture series "From the Light" features colorfulColor areas. The color areas create aan abstract composition that simultaneously forms a marmot. The artwork appears very modern in its minimalistic, light impression.
The ease of painting leads to the magical.
The lightness of the painting comes from the brightness of the white-primed canvas combined with the earthy, gracefully applied color fields. These create a stimulating, seemingly random composition. The elegance of the color fields is crucial for the calm yet engaging perception of the composition, as they allow the viewer to shift their perspective even after prolonged observation. Parts of the color fields define the shape of the marmot, while the colors partially convey the sense of space. The magic arises between the concrete outline of the marmot and the abstract composition of the color fields.
The contemplation of abstract painting and concrete motifs creates an interaction of perception.
Although the painting is experimental, it is still "slowed down" at certain boundaries. The outline of the groundhog acts as a kind of barrier when mixing the colors. This ensures that the motif is always perceptible. The choice of colors is also not entirely random: the animal motif is shown in the colors of its surroundings. This creates spontaneous form and color compositions within the framework of a concept. Since the motif is only constructed over a part of the boundaries of the color mixtures, the eye constantly shifts back to the abstract overall composition.
