A unique work from the “Remnants of an Experiment” series: RE 14

“RE 14” is an impressive artwork from my series “Remnants of an Experiment”. This collection is about creating art from the leftovers of the creative process. Each painting tells the story of experiments with colors, materials and techniques. “RE 14” was created on a work surface used during my “Splash!” project, which collected numerous paint splashes, drips and patterns. What appears chaotic at first glance reveals, on closer inspection, an ordered play of colors that celebrates chance while remaining controlled.

The origin story of RE 14: art born from experiment

The painting “RE 14” is not a conventional work. It did not originate on a blank canvas, but on a work surface that absorbed paint during numerous creative phases. While I was working on various projects, the cotton pads caught the drips and splashes. These seemingly random patterns and layers of colour were reused after the paintings were finished and stretched onto a stretcher frame. In this way, the “remains of an experiment” were transformed into a new, independent work of art. Every paint splash and every line is the result of artistic freedom and spontaneous creation.

Colors and structures in RE 14: The symbiosis of chaos and order

The large-format artwork captivates with a wild yet harmonious interplay of colors. On a blue background, vertical and horizontal lines of color run across the painting, accompanied by explosive splashes and seemingly chaotic forms. Yet within this apparent chaos, the viewer repeatedly discovers ordering elements – lines that traverse the image and color transitions that create a fascinating balance between chance and intention.

RE 14: Large-format artwork – 140x140 cm of pure color

With its dimensions of 140 × 140 cm, “RE 14” has an impressive presence. The size of the painting allows it to draw the viewer into the depth of the layers of color and to lose oneself in the multitude of details. In this large format, the splashes of paint and structures come into their own particularly well and create a striking visual effect that enlivens the space and draws the eye. This work is more than just a painting – it is a statement.

Abstract art with a personal touch

Every artwork tells a story, and “RE 14” is no exception. For me, this piece is an expression of my philosophy that beauty and art often emerge from the most unexpected processes. What others might see as “waste” becomes a source of inspiration for me and opens up space for new ideas. The artwork is an ode to experimentation, letting go and the joy of creating. This creative process is reflected in every drop of paint.

Paint splashes as an art form: How random traces give rise to an artwork

The technique of paint splatters used in the painting is a method that unites both chance and intention. In every project I let the paint flow freely, and the traces that emerge are unpredictable. But that is precisely where the beauty lies. The splatters give the painting a unique dynamism and turn it into a living artwork that seems to be in constant flux. The apparent randomness is what makes this painting so special.

From canvas to exhibition: RE 14 near Frankfurt

“RE 14” is more than just a painting – it is a centerpiece of my current exhibition in Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt. Here it is shown in the context of the “Remnants of an Experiment” series and fully unfolds its impact. Visitors to the exhibition are repeatedly fascinated by the depth and vibrancy of the painting, which appears chaotic at first glance but, on closer inspection, is full of structure and depth. It is an artwork that lives in the space and appeals to the senses.

Every color has a story: the creative process behind RE 14

Each of the colors in “RE 14” tells its own story. From bright yellow to deep blue to vibrant red – each layer of paint was sprayed or dripped onto the canvas over the course of the creative process. These layers are not planned or predetermined, but arise in the moment of creation. They represent the freedom of art and the joy of experimentation. “RE 14” is therefore not just a picture, but a documentation of my artistic journey.
