The Color Throw: Between Painting and Design Object.

The round canvas of the painting "Splash 19" has a diameter of 80 cm. The painting is created using a mixed media technique, incorporating both acrylic and lacquer paints. The modern approach is evident through the use of a "painting machine" - a modified drill - and through experimentation with paint throwing. The result is initially a design that only becomes "abstract" when related to the work process.

Bright colors are simultaneously thrown onto the canvas.

The round canvas was initially primed white. Then, colorful paints were thrown onto the canvas: red, yellow, magenta, orange, white, green, blue, and black. The rotation of the canvas causes slight distortions in the color streaks and the formation of outward-directed color lines that blend with the streaks and spots.

Abstract Painting or Design?

At first glance, the painting "Splash 19" appears abstract. However, "abstract" is a flexible term that is more applicable to the creative process here. For me personally, the result of theshort, entertaining experimentin the foreground. Alongside the joy of creation, I engage with form and color compositions, contrasts, and dynamics during the painting process. This engagement can traditionally be associated with design.

Since a lot can go wrong when experimenting, I often like to start over—and only get a little frustrated in the process...

Decorate your living space with the effortless style of a splash painting.

Although the Splash painting emerged from experimental art, it creates a harmonious, very pleasant, and positive atmosphere. The lightness is primarily achieved through the elegance and grace of the shapes and colors. This way, various spaces can be decorated with images that lie between abstract art and design.

The splash images are round and relatively light. To attach them, you only need a Nail in the wall. If you're interested in multiple paintings, you can playfully engage with series or even clusters of images.
