Still Life with Flowers II – colors like blossoms

A paintbox as a poetic arrangement

“Stillleben mit Blumen II” is a work that reinterprets the classical idea of the floral still life in abstract form. Instead of blossoms in a vase, a paint box unfolds here in which strong reds, yellows, and violets bloom alongside delicate green and pastel fields.

The circular paint pans are reminiscent of flower heads, while the rectangular fields beneath them look like a colorful tabletop. Traces of the painting process – overlaps, textures and accidental drips – bring the image to life. “Still Life with Flowers II” is at once powerful and poetic, clearly structured and full of allusions to nature and memory.

Sold – and now in private ownership

This work from the series “Der Farbkasten” has found its place in a private collection. It vividly demonstrates how Mark Hellbusch transforms everyday objects such as the paint box into autonomous artworks – full of symbolism, expression and their own inner life.
