Contemporary small-format painting
Wei (30 × 24 cm, 2025) is a work from my series In the End Green. Painted entirely in oil – from the priming to the final glazes – it unfolds a dense green surface full of structure and vitality. The relief‑like forms almost resemble traces of leaves or natural imprints, lending the painting an organic depth.
This small format makes Wei a versatile companion: it can set accents as a stand-alone piece or open up exciting dialogues when combined in a series with other works. Despite its size, it radiates a powerful calm that enriches any space.
Nature as inspiration
Like all works in the series, Wei bears a first name. This links the abstract with something concrete – similar to the way storms or weather events are named. It makes the work both personal and universal at the same time.
