A flower at the center

In Blume VI the blossom dominates the entire pictorial space. Its radiant blues stand in strong contrast to the yellow-green background, creating an extraordinary presence.

The form remains familiar. Everyone immediately recognizes a flower. At the same time, contours dissolve, color fields overlap and individual areas seem to be just coming into being. The flower does not appear as a fixed object, but as something that is constantly changing.

It is precisely this openness that gives the painting its tension.

Schmiertafel – When certainties start to flow

The series Schmiertafel explores widely known pictorial symbols such as flowers, smileys, trees or figures. They are simple forms that everyone recognises and whose meaning seems to be fixed.

In Flower VI, the flower remains clearly recognizable as a familiar symbol. At the same time, its inner order begins to blur. The bright blue blossom partially dissolves into color, trace, and movement, while the yellow-green pictorial space surrounds it and at the same time calls it into question. Contours remain visible, but lose their clarity.

Colour no longer follows the expected paths. Overlays, corrections and spontaneous interventions create the impression of a painting that is still changing. The flower stands between stability and dissolution – as a familiar sign that is gradually losing its self-evidence.

This creates a pictorial space in which recognition and uncertainty are present at the same time. It is precisely from this tension that Blume VI develops its particular energy.

Luminous color and contemporary flower painting

The painting thrives on its contrasts. The intense blue blossom appears cool and calm, while yellow, green, red, and violet bring movement and energy.

From a distance, the composition appears clear and harmonious. Up close, traces, overlays and spontaneous interventions become visible. The painting reveals its process of creation and preserves the history of its decisions.

Between beauty and decay

The flower is one of the oldest symbols of beauty, harmony, and vitality. In Flower VI, this meaning is initially preserved. The large blue blossom dominates the pictorial space and immediately draws the eye.

Yet its order is no longer untouchable. Contours dissolve, color fields overlap and visible interventions break through the expectation of a closed image. The flower remains recognizable while its self-evidence slowly disintegrates.

This creates a work between attraction and uncertainty, between beauty and dissolution. The flower is not destroyed, but it loses its certainty. It is precisely in this state that the painting develops its particular tension.

The series Schmiertafel includes flowers, smileys, trees, and other familiar signs. Together they form a body of work about perception, transformation, and the question of how stable even the simplest forms actually are.

I have been a freelance painter since 1997 and have worked with a wide variety of themes in painting. While until 2007 I was occupied almost exclusively with expressive painting, today my focus lies more on experimental art. My personal background, as well as almost all artistic themes can be found under “About us.”
