When colors speak to one another
“Farbdiskussion” (“Color Discussion”) thrives on the encounter of very different color moods. Luminous yellows, reds, greens, blues, and violets meet in a confined space, assert themselves against one another, connect, and then separate again.
The composition appears both lively and balanced. Individual areas of color draw attention, while others act as mediators between the strong contrasts. The result is a multi-layered painting full of movement and energy.
Color mixings and color smearings
The work was created without a predetermined pictorial theme. As with many pieces in the series “The Palette,” the composition developed step by step from the handling of the material itself.
Colours were added, altered, reworked or deliberately left as they were. From countless decisions, an independent image gradually emerged, shaped less by planning than by discovery.
The search for connections
The longer you look at the work, the more relationships between the individual color areas become visible. Some areas appear harmonious, others tense or contradictory.
The title “Farbdiskussion” (“Color Discussion”) arose from this impression. The colors seem to communicate with one another without ever fully agreeing on a common direction.

I have been a freelance painter since 1997 and have worked with a wide variety of themes in painting. While until 2007 I was occupied almost exclusively with expressive painting, today my focus lies more on experimental art.
