A vertical color field full of energy and movement
Claim 158 is a vertical abstract painting that immediately asserts its presence through its intense, colorful structure. On 110 × 90 cm, luminous yellows, greens, oranges, and blues condense into a dynamic, vibrant pictorial space.
Image description and painterly structure
In this work, Mark Hellbusch operates with a clear vertical orientation. The paint flows, drips and overlaps in numerous layers, creating a dense, rhythmic mesh. Especially in the lower area, warm orange and yellow tones condense, while the composition opens upward in a lighter, more atmospheric way.
The portrait format reinforces the impression of growth and movement. The abstract structure is reminiscent of organic processes without becoming figurative. Up close, a complex, richly detailed surface with fine lines, splatters and overlays is revealed. From a distance, the painting appears as a vibrating, cohesive color field.
Position within the Organic Grounds series
As with all works in the Organic Grounds series, Claim 158 is conceived as an exploration of color as an active material. The pictorial ground becomes a living space where chance and deliberate control meet. Here, color appears not as decoration but as an independent, evolving force.
Effect in Space
With its vertical orientation and colorful, luminous palette, Claim 158 is especially suitable for modern living spaces, stairways, corridors, or tall wall surfaces. The work makes a clear contemporary statement and brings energy and color intensity into the space.
