An experiment on canvas.

The experimental landscape painting "Marsfield LXXXVI" measures 70 x 50 cm and is composed of paint remnants glued on canvas with binder. The paint remnants used for this painting are colorful. Acrylic paints, oil paints, and varnish residues interact on the canvas in various combinations of color, shape, and size. The sizes of the paint remnants range from very fine dust to paint chunks approximately 0.5 cm in diameter. It is the size differences of the paint remnants that allow for a composition. Here are some key details about the painting.

Contemporary art from leftover paint.

From a distance, the piece initially appears to depict an earthy or sandy, beach-like surface. As you take a few steps closer to the painting, you realize that the work is completely colorful and made up of small paint remnants. The abstract painting becomes more concrete the longer you observe it: thoughts of wind, water, and eventually the morphology of a beach come to mind.

A painting from the "Mars Field" series for a truly unique ambiance.

"Marsfeld LXXXVI" is most impressive in a brightly lit room. The unusual spatial quality - the tactile nature (three-dimensional) combined with the contrasts (two-dimensional) - creates a special effect. Environment...which can only be gradually explored. The spatial effect is extremely subtle, giving the image a very fine, elegant, and stimulating quality.

Mars fields can also be presented in rows.

Good to know.

Binder as adhesive.

The special adhesivesThe cotton and the binder used for these experiments ensure very good adhesion of the paint residues to the canvas. If some paint residues do fall off - perhaps due to transport or curious children's fingers - it's not a big deal: All 'Marsfield' paintings consist of multiple layers. glued paint residueso that the canvas remains covered even with minor damage.

Paintings on the website.

I always strive to present an authentic representation of my work on the website. The paintings are photographed either in the studio or outdoors. However, the colors you see on your monitor may slightly differ from the actual colors on the painting. The images presenting the painting in a room were created using the "Smartist" app. This app displays paintings in the exact correct proportions to the room and can also show artworks framed in any way you like.
