Expressive painting with oil colors: striking portraits.
The artwork "Tara & Fatima" depicts two girls engaged in a verbal game. Their heightened sensuality is illustrated through the duplication of their mouths and eyes. They seem to know "competition" only from play and sports. We find this particularly "beautiful." The subtle duplications suggest that competition might play a significant role later in life. These portraits encourage owners and viewers to repeatedly engage in discussions about competition. Playfulness can also be part of the discussion.
Preparations for Painting
First, a chipboard was primed with cement and given texture. After drying, it was completely coated with a layer of glue and then screwed onto a canvas. This creates a well-protected, unusual surface that can be painted on.
Interesting Facts about "Tara & Fatima"
The portraits "Tara & Fatima" were created in Berlin in 2004. They hold no personal significance for me; rather, like almost all portraits on the topic of "Hunters," they fell into my hands by chance. An advertising photo, an informational brochure, a report—portraits are shown everywhere. Some of them evoke thoughts in me about the theme of "competition," which I then use.
