1980s - Early Drawings and First Paintings

Under the section "Early Drawings," you can mainly see drawings from my school days. "King Tut," for example, was a drawing assignment in art class. The task was to correctly apply a grid. It's notable that the first painted pictures are all divided into facets. This indicates that I still had a long way to go in the painting process...

Late 90s - Exercises with animal motifs and first successes in expressive painting

After my Foundation Course in Art and Design, I studied Geography in Marburg. It was only through detours that I returned to art and taught myself to paint simple motifs: animals. While practicing, a natural affinity for the expressive emerged.

Late 90s with "World People" - Painting, studies, and a question of meaning

The series "World People" combines several aspects of my life: painting (still in its maturation process at that time), geography (my studies in Marburg), and a question that occupied me for many years (what do I want to become?)

Late 90s with "Fossil Landscapes" - abstract painting on tactile surfaces

These "Fossil Landscapes" show abstract landscapes from above. The cartographic aspect also shows the connection to my geography studies. The painting, now more mature, was combined with tactile elements in the priming of the paintings. Although I was enthusiastic about the results, the "drive" for this series only lasted a few months.

From 2000 with "Redwind" - expressive painting with African animals

My first deep dive into painting came through the majesty of predominantly African animals in the "Redwind" theme. I combined painting with the priming technique I had learned from "Fossil Landscapes." The reddish paintings in this series were initially rather rough and expressive. Over time, the painting became increasingly refined. Over the years, commissioned works also emerged.

From 2000 with "Hunters" - quirky, expressive portrait painting

"Hunters" occupied me for a very long time before the first paintings even emerged. It was only in the middle of the Redwind series that the simple idea of working with the symbolism of sensory organs to depict people in competition came to me.

2010s to today - "The Palette" and "The Paintbox"

The Palette was by far the most challenging painting process for me. It took a very long time to reduce the theme to its symbolism. Ultimately, the palette itself is seen and presented as a work of art. The leap to the paintbox, on the other hand, required only a bit of craftsmanship. By then, I was among the experimental painters, without initially realizing it.

"Mars Field" - abstract landscape paintings with paint remnants

Mars Field was created in 2011 in Mainz. Thematically and visually, it is practically the opposite of the Palette: morphological landscapes are created from the shattered paint remnants of the Palette, which appear visually rather fine and restrained.

"Organic Grounds" and "Splash!" - experimental art since 2018

The making, not the painting, is more in the foreground with these themes. While "Splash!" emerges from throwing paint, the images in the Organic Grounds series are created by throwing, laying, and using the brush. Both series thrive on the concept of experimentation and bring me a lot of joy - at least for a manageable time.
