A unique piece from the "Remnants of an Experiment" series: RE 13
"RE 13" is an impressive painting from my series "Remnants of an Experiment." This collection is about creating art from the remnants of the creative process. Each painting tells the story of experiments with colors, materials, and techniques. "RE 13" was created on a work surface used during my project "Splash!" and collected numerous paint splatters, drops, and patterns. What appears chaotic at first glance reveals an ordered play of colors upon closer inspection, celebrating and controlling randomness at the same time.
Colors and Structures in RE 13: The Symbiosis of Chaos and Order
"RE 13" captivates with a wild yet harmonious interplay of colors. Against a deep black background, vertical color lines extend into the upper part of the painting, while the lower part is characterized by explosive paint splatters and seemingly chaotic forms. Yet, within this apparent chaos, the viewer repeatedly discovers organizing elements—lines that run through the painting and color transitions that create a fascinating balance between chance and intention.
Paint Splatters as an Art Form: How Random Traces Create a Work of Art
The paint splatter technique used in "RE 13" is a method that combines both chance and intention. In each project, I let the brush or paint flow freely, and the traces that emerge are unpredictable. But that's where the beauty lies. The paint splatters give the painting a unique dynamism, making it a living artwork that seems to be constantly changing. The apparent randomness is what makes this painting so special.
Every Color Tells a Story: The Creative Process Behind RE 13
Each color in "RE 13" tells its own story. From vibrant yellow to deep blue to lively red—each layer of paint was splattered or dripped onto the canvas during the creative process. These layers of paint are not planned or predetermined but arise in the moment of creation. They represent the freedom of art and the joy of experimentation. "RE 13" is therefore not just a painting but a documentation of my artistic journey.
