A unique piece from the "Remnants of an Experiment" series: RE 14
"RE 14" is an impressive artwork from my series "Remnants of an Experiment." This collection is about creating art from the remnants of the creative process. Each painting tells the story of experiments with colors, materials, and techniques. "RE 14" was created on a work surface used during my "Splash!" project, collecting numerous paint splatters, drips, and patterns. What appears chaotic at first glance reveals an orderly play of colors upon closer inspection, celebrating both randomness and control.
The creation story of RE 14: Art from the experiment
The painting "RE 14" is not a conventional work. It was not created on a blank canvas but on a work surface that absorbed paint during numerous creative phases. While working on various projects, the cotton surfaces caught the drips and splatters. These seemingly random patterns and layers of paint were reused and stretched onto a stretcher frame after the paintings were completed. Thus, a new, independent artwork was born from the "remnants of an experiment." Every paint splatter and line is a result of artistic freedom and spontaneous creation.
Colors and structures in RE 14: The symbiosis of chaos and order
The large-format artwork captivates with a wild yet harmonious interplay of colors. On a blue background, vertical and horizontal lines of color run through the painting, accompanied by explosive paint splatters and seemingly chaotic shapes. But within this apparent chaos, the viewer repeatedly discovers organizing elements – lines running through the painting and color transitions that create a fascinating balance between randomness and intention.
RE 14: Large-format artwork – 140x140 cm of pure color
With its dimensions of 140x140 cm, "RE 14" offers an impressive presence. The size of the painting allows the viewer to be drawn into the depth of the layers of paint and to get lost in the multitude of details. The large format particularly highlights the paint splatters and structures, creating an impressive visual impact that enlivens the space and draws the eye. This piece is more than just a painting – it is a statement.
Abstract art with a personal touch
Every artwork tells a story, and "RE 14" is no exception. For me, this piece is an expression of my philosophy that beauty and art often arise from the most unexpected processes. What others might consider "waste" becomes inspiration for me, creating space for new ideas. The artwork is an ode to experimentation, letting go, and the joy of creation. This creative process is reflected in every drop of paint.
Paint splatters as an art form: How random traces create an artwork
The technique of paint splatters used in the painting is a method that combines both randomness and intention. In every project, I let the paint flow freely, and the traces that emerge are unpredictable. But that is where the beauty lies. The paint splatters give the painting a unique dynamism, making it a lively artwork that seems to be in constant flux. It is this apparent randomness that makes this painting so special.
From canvas to exhibition: RE 14 in Frankfurt
"RE 14" is more than just a painting – it is the centerpiece of my current exhibition in Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt. Here it is shown in the context of the "Remnants of an Experiment" series and unfolds its full effect. Visitors to the exhibition are always fascinated by the depth and vibrancy of the image, which appears chaotic at first glance but reveals full structure and depth upon closer inspection. It is a work of art that lives in the space and appeals to the senses.
Every color has a story: The creative process behind RE 14
Each of the colors in "RE 14" tells its own story. From bright yellow to deep blue to vibrant red – each layer of color was splashed or dripped onto the canvas during the creative process. These layers of color are not planned or predetermined but arise in the moment of creation. They represent the freedom of art and the joy of experimentation. "RE 14" is therefore not just a picture but a documentation of my artistic journey.
