Abstract art from leftover paint.

The paint residues used for this landscape painting come from a dried paint palette. Acrylic paints, oil paints, and leftover varnish interact with one another in the most diverse variations of color, shape, and size, resulting in an abstract painting. The paint residues compositionally form a Whirlpool. From a distance, this art initially appears earthy or sandy. However, the whirlpool can already be recognized by its stronger haptics. It only arises at this point through the change in size of the paint remnants. If you take a few steps toward the painting, you will notice that all the paint remnants are equally colorful. 

A small-format abstract landscape for a niche.

"Field of Mars CXII" is a small-format painting. It comes into its own best in a small room, in a hallway, on a staircase or in a niche. The unusual spatiality – the genuine tactility (three-dimensional) combined with the contrasts (two-dimensional) – together with the simple composition creates a very original atmosphere that can only be explored gradually. The spatial and compositional effect is extremely subtle, so that a very fine, elegant and stimulating effect emanates from this landscape.

This type of art looks very elegant in vertical or horizontal rows. In this way, larger spaces can also be decorated and a special atmosphere created in the living area. For paintings that hang side by side, it is important that their differences are decisive. A crater that appears yellow-brown from a distance, set between beach-like reddish wave structures and a grayish vortex, is more inspiring to the eye than several craters of the same size next to each other. Those can quickly be overlooked as a mere pattern.

The special adhesive for cotton and the binder used for this experiment ensure that the leftover paint adheres very firmly to the canvas. If individual paint fragments should still fall off – for example during transport or due to curious children’s fingers – it is not a problem: all “Marsfeld” paintings consist of several layers of glued-on paint remnants, so the canvas remains covered even in the case of minor damage.

I always strive to present an authentic image of my work on the website. The photographs of the paintings are taken in the studio or next door in the living room. Nevertheless, the colors you see on your monitor may differ slightly from the actual colors of the painting. The images that show the painting in a room were generated using the "Smartist" app. This app presents paintings in the exact correct size ratio to the space and can also display artworks with any frame.

Small-format art at an introductory price.

The price is also interesting: The paintings in the “Field of Mars” series are not cheap, but extremely inexpensive in relation to their quality. For some, this means a relatively low-risk entry into the world of art. For others, perhaps the opportunity to design smaller rooms in a modern, interesting, and affordable way.
